That Is One Big Tree

February 24, 2014

I woke up this morning in Big Sur after barfing my way up the last 40 miles of the 101 last night. What can I say? No one warns you about the post-stroke anxiety attacks. I think it was that last shot of the coast off Cambria as the sun went down that sent me into orbit. I mean, I literally catapulted my body clear over the console from the front to the back seat to roll down the window and take it all in. It hardly seemed real.

Do you know how insane it is to be so happy but at the same time so overcome with nausea that you can’t even move your eyeballs? Big Sur has been on my bucket list for over 10 years and I’m not going to let anything ruin it. I hope to see it all.

One more cup of lemongrass tea and I’m taking it to the Redwoods and the coastline and everything in between. Wish me luck.

Sounds absolutely amazing. I need to get in on a little of that wonder and dream-actualization myself.

How scary and crazy. I hope the break does the heart and soul and body some good. Enjoy the fresh air and the tick on the BL.

Seriously, that trip I took to California years ago (with your Seal Beach recommendations!) was the most awe-inspiring and relaxing vacation I’ve ever had. We went from L.A. to San Jose and stopped at all sorts of little places along the coast. The coast is absolutely majestic.
